Accessibility

Luma should work whether you browse with a mouse, a keyboard, a screen reader, or scaled text.

The standard we work to

We build to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines, version 2.2, level AA. The claim we can stand behind is specific: in August 2026 we audited every page of the marketplace against that standard, fixed what the audit found, and keep automated checks running so the fixes stay fixed.

What you can expect

  • Controls say what they are. Star ratings are real radio groups, so a screen reader announces which of the five stars you’re on.
  • Text, links and status badges meet AA colour contrast.
  • Animation respects your system’s reduced-motion setting. Turn it on and the floating photos and the confetti sit still.
  • Undo never lives only in a pop-up message. Remove something from your basket and an untimed Undo stays on the page until you want it.

Where it falls short today

Listing photos and videos come from makers. A photo’s text alternative is the listing title, so it tells you what the piece is, not everything the photo shows; the written description alongside is where that detail lives. Maker videos don’t have captions yet.

Payment happens on the hosted checkout page of our payment provider (Stripe). That screen is their code, and they publish their own accessibility work.

Tell us what’s in your way

If part of Luma doesn’t work with your setup, that’s a bug, and we want to know about it. Use the contact form and tell us what you were trying to do and what you use, whether that’s VoiceOver, a keyboard, magnification or something else. A person reads every message.
