Deleting your account
How to request account deletion, what gets removed, what’s kept, and how to change your mind.
Last updated
You can ask us to delete your account at any time. We handle deletion requests under UK GDPR.
First, in case it’s one of these
If you want to change one thing rather than leave, all of these live under Account:
- Your email address or password, under Profile.
- Which emails we send you, under Notifications. Nudges and reminders are on by default and every one of them can be turned off. Order emails and anything to do with your money aren’t optional, because you need those.
- Cookies and tracking, from Cookie preferences in the footer, on any page.
- Saved delivery addresses, under Addresses.
If you’re a maker who needs a break rather than an ending, see pausing or closing your shop. Deleting your account can’t be undone; closing your shop can.
How to request deletion
- Go to Account → Profile.
- Scroll to Delete account and select Delete my account.
- Confirm.
Your request goes to our team and is processed within 30 days.
You have 30 days to change your mind
Requesting deletion doesn’t lock you out. You can still sign in during those 30 days, and the profile page shows the date it will happen with a Withdraw request button beside it. Use it and nothing is lost.
If you’re a maker, your published listings are paused as soon as you request deletion, so nothing new can be bought while you decide. Withdrawing the request puts them back.
What gets deleted
- Your profile: name and email
- Your shop, its images and its listings, if you’re a maker
- Your favourites and account preferences
- Your sign-in credentials
What’s kept, in anonymised form
Some records have to survive for legal and accounting reasons:
- Order records. Order history is retained, with your personal details replaced by anonymised identifiers.
- Financial records. Transaction records we’re required to keep for accounting.
- Reviews. Reviews you wrote may stay, anonymised.
- Messages. Conversations are kept for six years from the last message, because one can be the evidence in a dispute about an order. Our Privacy Policy has the detail.
What stops you requesting it
You can’t start a deletion while you still have live responsibilities to someone else:
- Active orders, whether you bought or sold them
- A held balance with our payment provider (Stripe), meaning money from your sales that hasn’t reached your bank yet
The button tells you which of these is in the way, and lists the orders by reference. This isn’t a queue: the request isn’t taken and held, so once you’ve seen those orders through, come back and ask again.
If you’re a maker
We close your shop and your payment provider account for you. There’s nothing to do at their end.
Closing a connected account isn’t instant. The payment provider won’t close one holding money, and card payments can be disputed for months after the sale, so the account is closed once the balance has drained and those windows have passed. That commonly takes a few months.
Your personal data is still erased on the normal 30-day track. The payment account is a separate legal obligation with its own clock, and it runs quietly in the background. We won’t email you again about it.
Anything you’re owed is still paid out to you.
Once it’s done
Executed deletion can’t be reversed. Coming back later means a new account.
