Pausing or closing your shop
How to stop taking orders or close your shop, and what each one does to your listings and the orders you already have.
Last updated
You can stop taking orders or close your shop from Manage shop → Operations, and you can undo either. Deleting your account is separate, and it’s the only step you can’t take back.
The table at the end matches each one to a situation.
Stop taking orders
The quickest one: turn off Taking new orders. Your shop stays visible and shoppers can still browse and message you, but nothing can be bought. The shop page says your shop isn’t taking orders right now, and invites shoppers to favourite it so they hear when you reopen.
Good for a busy fortnight, a house move, or a stock shortage you’re sorting out.
It’s also the switch for going away. Turn it off before you go and back on when you’re home. Orders you already have still need posting, and the deadlines on them keep running while you’re away, so if you’re going somewhere without signal, deal with your open orders before you leave.
Closing your shop
Close shop is at the foot of the same tab. It pauses your listings and stops all new business straight away.
You get 7 days to change your mind, and cancelling in that window puts back only the listings the closure paused. Anything you’d paused yourself stays paused.
After the seven days it finalises, as long as you have no orders still running, no money still held, and nothing open with us. Then:
- Your listings are archived.
- Anything you’re owed is paid out.
- Your account goes back to being a shopper account.
- Your order and payout records move to Account → Closed shops, where you can still read and download them. You’ll want those for your tax return.
Closing isn’t permanent. You can reopen the same shop later, with the same name and the same reviews. Your listings come back as paused so you can look them over before relisting.
Deleting your account
The one that can’t be undone. That’s a different thing and it has its own article.
Which one do I want?
| If you’re | Use |
|---|---|
| Snowed under, or going away | Stop taking orders |
| Stopping for the foreseeable | Close your shop |
| Certain, and want your data gone | Delete your account |
If you’re not sure, take the reversible one. Closing and reopening costs you nothing.
